a happy birthday and anniversary

it was a gorgeous day at the lake...

I grew up at Tahoe, we were married at Tahoe, obviously the lake holds 1000s of memories for me, but I was eager to visit the newly opened bike and walking path.

it truly is an engineering marvel, allowing bikes and people to stroll along and over the waters edge for a couple of miles. my youth was spent on these hidden rocks and beaches, now this whole stretch has been opened to the public. I used to bike out here, it was so dangerous 50 years ago, i think its still dangerous with all the pedestrians sharing the path, but at least you won't get hit by a car!

the attention to details are superb...

lots of benches and turn outs to enjoy the prettiest lake in the country

this hidden beach was my youth, a naked beach in its day due to being so inaccessible, its now a family friendly beach with easy walking access. our high school principal used to sit up on the road with the sheriff and a bull horn calling all incline high school students return to school immediately. they never came down, and we never went up! he used to do the same thing at incline ski resort, he would stand at the chairlift and round us all up in winter... when you live in such a gorgeous area the temptations to play were just to great~

the path was filled with dogs, kids, families, seniors, tourists and locals, this nearly brought me tears, placed in front of a long bridge...

the bike path had so many great touches, from places to rest your bike while you wandered down the rocks to the water

to the cutest fix it station i have ever seen...

from air to every kind of tool your bike may need

it was a glorious birthday for my husband, plus our 25th wedding anniversary, although we have officially been living together for 35 years

i found this picture of us, just a week after we got engaged, we sure have come a long way, thank you for such a beautiful life together~

  1. Happy Anniversary to you and Birthday to Scott! What beauty...I've never been to Tahoe, the water is crystal clear and gorgeous unlike our red mud bottomed lake. Seeing the note on the dog cart made me tear up. Great photo of you, how fun to look back. ♥
