SNOW!

it was a fine morning for me, waking up to light fluffy snow! i grew up at tahoe and knew instantly this was great powder snow, i was transported immediately to my childhood ski days. Snow is not the norm for where we live, having it twice this month has been exciting! first up is the kitchen garden, its fair to say the tomatoes can officially be removed, even though i still have lots of tomatoes on the vines...

i headed out alone, in the dark of pre dawn, eager to see what animal tracks i might find in the snow before the dogs ravaged the pristine white. i spotted genie, but no giraffe tracks in sight, she was frozen solid.

the white vistas dazzled me, i found lots of tracks but couldn't tell what they were...

for the first time it was snow 360 degrees around the surrounding vistas.

i love garden benches, i am even more enchanted with them laced in snow...

it was snowing on my walk, you will see loads of smears on all my pictures...

good thing i spotted my tracks first thing because suddenly the girls were in full race mode to join me courtesy of their daddy...

i took 2 dozen pics of them on this mulch pile waiting for katie to stop howling, not a good pic to be had!

rosie was bored waiting for katie to quite

their daddy showed up in tessie and escorted them away...

allowing me to finish a more peaceful walk in the snow... olives anyone?

lemonade?

my nursery doesn't look all that nurturing...

reblooming iris still standing tall, i had trees snap.

the snow lasted almost all day, despite the rain, i fear tomorrow will be nothing but ice!

and so it begins...

the greenhouse is officially buttoned up! for my birthday my husband installed all the greenhouse windows. i know he would have loved a rest, but with 10" of rain due this week starting in 30' i desperately wanted the roof on too! he worked into the evening to accomplish that goal and before the sun rose i was pestering him to help me get this table dragged over to the greenhouse. he likes to remind me this is a construction zone, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!

you can see i am very eager to get started, the interior and exterior still has loads of work needed from siding, to painting, to insulation, to built ins, irrigation and furniture, but with a roof on we can work inside during the next 10 days of storms. you can see on this wall i drew in chalk the outline of my future garden hutch. i drew everything in chalk to see how it would all fit, it will be a tight squeeze when done, but it will be filled with joy and happiness for me!

across from the greenhouse in the nursery this clematis just keeps blooming, through snow and 60 mph winds!

the birds are a full time job now to keep the six feeders filled...
