cranberry sage pie~

Tried a new holiday pie recipe, I enjoyed it, my husbands comment was well I will eat it... Not a resounding hit with him! I'm not a pie fancier, I liked it because its unique in taste and texture. I did alter the recipe and added more apples.

A light delicious easy veggie dish...

Roasted cauliflower with fresh mint and pomegranate seeds

Roast cauliflower florets tossed in oil at 425 for 40' until tender
Season with salt and pepper
Fresh mint
Pomegranate seeds
Toasted almonds sauteed in oil

Serve warm

todays walk...

we are having a very slow start to winter, as in not getting any rain, but we are getting plenty of sunshine, which means i am loving my daily fall walks in the garden ...

i adore fall...

i am an early riser, ok, a really poor sleeper, i am often up before 4 am, eager for the day to start. today i headed out for my normal morning walk with camera in hand, much to my chagrin the camera was dead... i spent my day securing the deer fencing and generally just puttering around with pruners in hand until mid afternoon, as i was heading in the fall foliage i had planted all around the edge of our property was calling me! i never take pics in the afternoon, but the lighting was so enchanting i took a second stroll and grabbed the camera again...

if you don't love leaves, go ahead and exit, because i am thoroughly enchanted with every single changing leaf i have ever seen!

starting right off my kitchen door the red simplicity roses are in full bloom and this lady in red climbing rose is still an eye catcher

turning the corner i can see fall foliage all over my property

looking beyond the backyard i am always enchanted my neighbors ponds

even the roses are in full fall colors

cottonwoods dot the landscape around me, stunning, but i am thrilled i don't have those sucker trees on my property, i can just admire them from afar.

i planted a cluster of fall trees on one side of the house, we have only been here three years, i feel like this year the garden is really beginning to show its true colors.

i still have reblooming iris popping up here and there in the borders

i have 6 lemon trees in my front yard, they ripen in december, i must have several hundred plus ripening as i type

the miscanthus is so huge it can barely hold itself upright

my entry gate is lined with a dozen bradford pears, right now they are in all their full glory on one half of the driveway only!

the distant view from the front of my property, the snow capped sierras
