Out takes...

You know when you see those picture perfect shots that just dazzle your senses you know there must have been a few out takes to achieve perfection... Well in my case, ALL I can offer is out takes, I have no official takes...

The winter bones of the rose garden

the last of my blooming roses before the pruning wipes the slate clean for spring...

Its been a daunting task pruning this month, these two have been zero help...

Slowly the bones of the garden are being exposed again

Just 3 inner rings left to prune, some roses stand 7' tall and are so thick I need power tools to trim

The tunnels are pruned, eager for the spring show

I finally counted, I have 501 roses in my rose garden!

Good thing I just love...

endless joy...

they grow up to fast, after the fire i was thrilled to have so many memories and pics on my blog, for that reason i don't mind sharing over and over the joy these girls bring me. i cannot tell you how much i have enjoyed looking back over my blog after all my photos burned, i know i will feel the same looking back when katie and rosie will one day been senior dogs too...

it was a rainy day, after being cooped up in the morning they couldn't wait to run and tumble this afternoon! i often don't have time for pics, which is why my blog is feast or famine, when i do have time to empty the camera i end up sharing too many posts of the same things, but in time i always love to look back!

i adore how much katie loves rosie, rosie jumps on her back all day long, pulls her tail, shares her food and water bowl at the same time, i have never had such a kind, generous dog before. we keep rosie far away from cassie, cassie would attack her in a heartbeat over food and fun, it is just pure joy to know how how sweet katie is with every ounce of her soul!

garden chronicles, in the rose garden update

Since the rose garden started these pillars have been a temporary eyesore, finally its their time! We have had these columns for 26 years! Our old neighbors left for a world tour in 1994, they ended up staying in Bali and never returned to the U.S. , but before that decision they shipped crates home of things they collected along the way. We purchased these from them in 94 and they had been in crates on our old property the entire time untouched.

These hollow halves had been temporarily wired closed and were just partially painted as high as I could reach, waiting for their turn for completion...

The reason they sat so forlorn this year was we needed to wait for winter to weld the top out of fire season. They are fragile, fearing packing the center with concrete might cause more harm then good we opted for foam insulation and cement glue for the seams.

As always, we have the dynamic duo passing through inspecting our progress...

I could not be happier for the 26 year wait!

One down, one to go!
