garden walk, before the storms...

the storm door is open this week, and trust me, this state can't get enough rain for years to restore the damage of 3 years of drought. it was a gray day with sprinkles here and there, i spent the day spreading mulch so that any moisture will be trapped and relished that much longer. every dahlia was covered with bees, they too know the times are changing tonight...

my favorite fall tree is a chinese pistache, there is the largest one i have seen in my lifetime next to our house...

i have added an alley of them on the side of the property at our stairway to heaven, right now some are so brilliant red they look iridescent just before their leaves fall, especially under the gray skies. I am drawn to them like a magnet, visible from everywhere on the property

the top half of the lions garden is done and i adore walking it daily inspecting the many flowers.

  1. Gorgeous trees with the russet red and orange foliage! I had to google them and saw they're also cold hardy, pest and disease resistant and a fast growing. Hope you get some good soaking rains. ♥
