on high alert...

today we are facing a critical fire event, with 70 mph winds expected tonight, dry parched vegetation and no rain since spring, its the height of fire season. to prevent downed trees breaking power lines and starting wildfires we are heading into a planned blackouts until mid week. i must confess i am nervous, they are really touting how dangerous the winds will be, even asking communities to think about leaving now and renting hotels away from the hills. after losing one house this august to fire i keep asking what are the odds of losing another... it still haunts me though. yesterday i took the time to really enjoy my roses, in case the wind strips them bare, i have over 300 roses, i swear i could happily post 300 rose pics a day, they truly delight me!

  2. Well we lived through another one. I can just imagine how you must feel when you hear about preparing for any fire danger. Did the wind blow hard for you. I noticed it pick up during the afternoons, but wasn't aware that it blew hard at night. When it does, I usually hear the howling wind coming around the house. Hate that scary sound..Your roses are so gorgeous..Stay well..xxoJudy

    1. I didn't think it was bad the first night, we did have a few things topple over, but the next night when the power was back up was worse! Did you read alpine meadows clocked 140 mph!
