its been wretched hot...
which opens the door to extra scary scenarios...
fortunately this fire broke out nearly next door to the fire station, a large garage was fully engulfed with major fears of a full wildland fire from flying embers...
we watched from our house, barely 2 miles away, if that, as 3 planes and 2 helicopters circled the fire with 60 men on the ground. the helicopters were like watching ballet dancers circle one another as they put our spot fires from the embers.
its impressive watching waterfalls of life saving water...
i have not seen this type of helicopter before with a suction bladder
you can see the full red bladder now
after seeing the black smoke drop to light gray and the planes disperse I said to my husband we are heading into town right now...
i wanted to thank the fire fighters for giving us peace of mind...
when leaving the store a woman said looks like you are on dessert detail, i told her it was for the fireman, she froze, looked up to me and i could see her eyes getting cloudy, she said i understand, i was married to a SF fireman, i started to tear up with her. so very thankful for all these hard working men and woman risking their lives to protect us all!
Heros, that's what they are :)
ReplyDeleteYou got that right!
DeleteToo close for comfort. So thankful that we have men and women who will risk their lives for our safety.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more!
DeleteSuper scary...I can't imagine the adrenaline and training required to fly those helicopters and drop that precious water where it does the most good. So thankful for all our first responders. I know your dessert stack was appreciated.
