lions garden trellis~

it all started a couple of years ago when a metal supply store was going out of business, i love rusty metal and CHEAP! we came home with loads of rusty pieces that i knew i would work into the garden.
we have been working on the lions share garden this summer, we stopped at the halfway mark when we ran out of pavers and the season was over. the last thing we did was put in irrigation, i had my husband put in 2 8' high sprinklers, i knew i wanted him to weld me trellises below to hide the water and to give me my much loved vertical color. i decided on a 4 way X design, i wanted a curved top, my husband wasn't sure if he could do it and laid the pieces out on the ground first. i loved it...

let the welding begin!

next we went looking for the prefect filler, we made up the sizing on the fly, this panel size fit our scenario perfectly.

i wanted to make sure he had all the squares level on all four panels.

it came out perfect!

time to strap it up and drive it over to the garden

a little bit of leveling and he pounded it deep into the soil with anchors welded off the legs. the sprinkler sits high above the trellis giving me great coverage in a 360 degrees pattern.

i was charmed with every angle!

one down, 3 to go, 2 will flank the ivy house and when we build the lower half it will be a mirror image in reverse.

i am going to plant 2 clematis to fill in the trellis quickly, allowing me to mix and match colors, the vines will rapidly grasp the grid.

❤❤❤ thank you dear, i love it! ok, them...❤❤❤

  2. You both are so talented and yes very fortunate to have such a loving willing husband to construct a life with. These trellis look so sturdy your clematis will be very happy, a focal point of structural interest and beauty within the garden.

  3. Oh em gee...if that isn't just brilliant and beautiful too! I totally agree with Mary in CO! Form and function married perfectly, love the curve at the top. It's beautiful now but will be smashing with your blooming vines. ♥
