garden chronicles, the courtyard update

the courtyard has finally come together! when we purchased the home this area was planted with boring industrial plantings like contoneaster and some evergreen sword like plants that did nothing but stay industrial green and dull. last year we removed it all to start fresh with loads of color and roses. i love the brilliance of red against the pale stucco.

yuletide camellia has been blooming since mid november....

i was thrilled with the new garden vibrancy, but the walls were still severely lacking, that is until my husband welded me four more picture frames for my climbing red roses this week.

i can't wait for spring when the wall will come alive!

i love it so much i think this corner could use one more frame for a red clematis...
