the first steps in the pool...

for Katie and Rosie! We have been keeping the dogs away from the pool as the plaster cures, they love water and we knew the pool would be a muddy mess with rain and wild dogs in a dirt backyard. Today was a sunny day, with 3 days of rain on the horizon we decided to let them meet the pool briefly, this may be the last time the pool is calm and clean!

Rosie lives in our fountains, which are only 10" deep, we were very curious how this would play out, I specifically had a pool ledge built around the sides of the pool just for the dogs to be able to exit at any time. Rosie raced to the edge and just stared...

Next thing I knew she had hopped up on the hot tube ledge, something I truly never even thought of! For the record, the water is 41 degrees, we are still balancing the chemicals...

Around and around she went.

Glancing at the deep end.

Up hops Katie too!

Always so picture perfect, a lady of decorum.

Katie takes the first step into the pool, we already know she is a good swimmer.

Time to show Rosie the ledge step, in case she falls in we want her know how to get out, she was very nervous until her feet hit the plaster.

Katie gets a turn too.

Rosie drinking the water,

and back up to the hot tub for Rosie, her favorite spot so far.

Round and round she goes...

finding the first step.

Nobody swam, it was just a good introduction, it would be way to cold for us to rescue Rosie since we have not really seen her swim as a covid baby! Lets just say we are all looking forward to hot summer days!

  1. Wonderful narration. I wonder if Rosie thinks the hot tub is a giant fountain. She is such a water gal! You were brilliant to build the ledge and introduce them to it. From Joy lessons /mlee

    1. Thank you, we haven't let them back yet, waiting for propane so at least the hot tub will be warm if we have to rescue them!

  2. Love seeing your girls get their pool introduction! I guess the chemicals in the pool are safe to drink?
