rose pink breakfast~

this books was so delicious i am back for seconds, who could resist a rose pink breakfast...

let me grab my bag and apron...

join me while i gather my abundance...

the scent of roses permeates the garden~

looks like i am ready to set the table...

who doesn't love fresh picked roses...

the menu is all set, with just a minor change from muffins to apple roses~

and for some quick and easy dunking, pancake bacon strips...

such a beautiful book...

and another happy ending~

~apple roses~

puff pastry
one apple
cinnamon
sugar

slice apples thin from bottom up on a mandoline. place slices in a pan with water and heat to soften, add cinnamon and sugar and let soak until pliable. i used scissors to cut in half.

spread out puff pasty and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. slice into strips. place 4 apple slices per strip and roll, place in greased mini cupcake pans and bake at 350 for 15-20' until puffed and golden. i think for an extra dimension a drizzle of caramel would be delightful~

bacon pancake strips for dunking

bacon
pancake batter
butter
syrup

learn from my mistakes... i used no fat bisquick pancake mix, the batter was too thin and they did not puff up like a full fat pancake. in other words, they were flimsy... i ended up cutting mine in half. i also didn't have a griddle, which would certainly make much prettier pancakes then being squashed in a frying pan! even though they were not pretty or full bodied, they were delicious and a lovely way to eat pancakes utensil free in the garden!

i hope you enjoyed your invitation to the garden, your invite is still open at...

Your apple ROSE muffins, your pancake bacon strips, rose butter...*sigh* I'll have to come back again and gorge on this rose feast! My yogurt for breakfast is poor substitute this morning, deep sighs of happiness from me this morning, my pinning finger is going to wear out... ♥

  2. I just love those apple roses! They are almost too pretty to eat...almost. I just love anything apple, so those really look delicious to me.

Love all your beautiful roses. You have a wonderful variety. From what you've shown us, you have turned your hilly property into quite a garden haven. Would love to stroll your property.

  4. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the apple roses. Your creativity knows no limit. Love the idea of the pancake sticks. I must give that a try. I'm going to go back again and again to smell the roses on this one. Bravo!

  5. Jain, once again, this post was like opening a much-loved book or a magazine that is devoted to tablescaping, gardening, and baking, and you are the creative genius at the helm. Your talent goes beyond anything I have ever seen. Each photo is music for the soul. I absolutely needed this post after my misadventures the past week (wasps, missteps, flying cannoli, rusty nails, tetanus toxoid injection, and a "Chopped" style slice and dice of tender flesh). Apple roses..the food of angels and blessed cooks...butter stamped with flowers (another genius touch)...tablescapes that would make Charlotte Moss swoon and send Martha Stewart into a tizzy. Your photos and baking are a true gift to blogland and to the world.
