novel bakers present the forest feast~

the forest feast is a wonderful FULL color cookbook that will delight your senses from the forest, to the sea, to the mountain tops high, in other words its just a darn good cookbook! i am a visual person, how can you not love a book that offers you 100% color pics from cover to cover? i am also extra smitten with this book because its a local author, residing in the foggy coastal mountains of santa cruz she offers cool moisture dripping moments...

her foods are the taste of home, a true california experience, avocados, artichokes, citrus, figs, grapes persimmons...

with thanksgiving just around the corner, why not see if any of these forest delights might find their way onto your holiday tables. this is a simple, easy to use and enjoy cookbook, today i thought i would share a few tasty starters and libations from my own fall forest...

  1. Oh I knew you'd be cooking up a feast! If only I could start the day with a Rosemary Gin Fizz, I'll have to wait til 5:00 :) Your asparagus tart looks so delicious and beautiful with your wispy blooms along with your little apricot bites served on nature's best fall colored leaves. I love that your weathered table top matches hers in the book too...

Thanks so much for introducing me to this beautiful book. I'm looking forward to seeing what you're feasting on the rest of the week :)

  2. I would love to come for cocktails on your beautiful N Cal coast, and the pairings of a lemon basil mojito with a pastry wrapped spear, or a rosemary gin fizz with asparagus tart are both irresistible~ the book is charming and her illustrations delightful~and your photos, as always, are stunning...I am looking forward for a week of fabulous fun, thanks Jain~

  3. I love this splendid feast you've created, Jain. I made the asparagus roll ups, too, but, well, you know me and puff pastry. But weren't they divine? I have yet to try a recipe from the book that wasn't out of this world good. I could cook from those pages every day, and give thanks that you selected it for a NB event.

  4. How gorgeous everything looks. No sooner do you Novel Bakers upload your blog posts that I head to the online library catalog and search for the book. This one I had to inter-library loan, so I have to wait. >:-(
