jessies girl...

come on and sing it, i wish that i had jessies girl ...

last weekend i went to a book signing at a fabulous book store in marin called passages. i thought it would be hysterical! out of ALL the books and authors i pick this goofy "writer" to stop in for a quick peek... mind you, at 1 pm they had isabel allende, at 4 pm rick springfield and at 6 pm tom rob smith, it was a very full day and i choose the simplest of the trio. oh and he was late... rock star late! he didn't arrive until 4:45, the room was packed to the rafters, the vibe was electric, except for the handful of men stuck with their wives playing with cell phones...

while we twiddled our thumbs killing time, after i purchased 4 new novels to support the independent bookstores, the crowd was restless. they ran out of food and beverage, well except for wine, it was a very loose crowd of middle age woman... with constant updates to his pending arrival and a vocal crowd this young salesperson bravely stepped forward to sing to the masses. HE WAS ADORABLE! he got a standing ovation :-)

finally rick arrives, with dark glasses on the entire time. he uttered maybe 3 sentences, sang 3 songs and then leapt up and said lets sign some books! it was a huge let down... except for the face lift and hair dye, he looked great "refreshed"! not even a standing O for rick~

it was so disorganized, usually they talk about their book, there is q&a, there was NOTHING... just 3 songs and a massive rush at least 50 deep to sign his book. 300 woman all vying for his attention before they toss him out for the next authors arrival. i left without bothering to get it signed, but I did take pics of others enjoying their moments in time~

haven't had a chance to read his book yet, I will keep you posted if it was worth our effort!

  1. I've heard he is a scoundrel, I'm always amazed how much leeway celebs get with their appearances. Sounds like a fun day though, especially if they didn't run out of wine :)
